Why Elsie?

WE RECOMMEND ELSIE THURMAN FOR MAYOR

When evaluating candidates, we look for those with the life experience best suited to serve with integrity and a record of accomplishments. Elsie Thurman not only shares our priorities to protect the quality of life of Horseshoe Bay, but more importantly, she has the know-how to put her vision into action.

Thurman chaired the Long-Range Planning Committee, then was elected to the City Council where her peers elected her as the Mayor Pro Tem. She has worked with State and Federal agencies to protect Horseshoe Bay’s way of life and has earned the trust of the community and city staff.

Thurman’s priorities are things she has been working on for years making her best suited to deliver for Horseshoe Bay.
Low Taxes

Thurman just lowered the tax rate and is working to lower it again.

Conservative Fiscal Management

Thurman is a retired CPA who understands the fiduciary responsibility of managing the taxpayer’s money.  She is always looking to do more with less.

Protect & Preserve Our Quality of Life

Thurman has been a leader pushing back against builders and developers who prefer more growth with less rules.  Our city codes and Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) are both tools that protect our quality of life.

Support Police & Fire

For Thurman, the city’s number one job is to keep residents safe. She has a long record of supporting our first responders.

Reduce Traffic

Thurman spearheaded the creation of a transportation committee.  Her focus was to address current issues on Hwy 2147 and get ahead of future ones, such as the pending Wirtz Dam Bridge project.

Protect Our Water Supply

Thurman started a process with the Central Texas Water Coalition and the Lower Colorado River Authority to develop a more aggressive strategy to protect our water supply.
